Obama's Rating Hits a New Low

"President Obama's Approval Rating Hits a New Low" By Holley Bailey
30 March 2011

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_theticket/president-obamas-approval-rating-hits-a-new-low

About 48% of people don't approve of the job Obama is doing which is a bad sign for his upcoming re-election campaign for 2012. Another 50% says Obama doesn't deserve to be re-elected. The way he is handling Libya didn't help him. I read some of the comments people left, and I can agree with some points, but there are others who were really harsh. I can see why people aren't happy but I really do believe that Obama is doing his best and instead of criticizing everthing he does, we need to somehow help to come up with solutions instead.

New pools of radioactive water is spilling in from Japan's nuclear complex, and it's spreading into soil and seawater. This has caused fears that the nuclear crisis could last for months or even years. It can get into raw milk, and even tap water. People in Japan really need to becareful with what they eat.

Yesterday was elimination day on American Idol, and Casey Abrams was supposed to sing for his life. The judges stopped him a couple of seconds into his song, and they saved him from elimination. I am so glad they saved Casey, he's my winner and he's so unique, I love it when he sings. I really hope people vote for him because I know I will.

Bully Caught by Surprise

"Teen Wrong to body-slam alleged bully"By
21 March 2011

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/03/21/earlyshow/living/parenting/main20045360.shtml

http://www.bullyingstatistics.org/content/bullying-and-suicide.html
Yesterday I saw on the news of a kid bullying another kid, named Casey Heynes. The alleged bully punched  Casey, until finally he decided to defend himself. Casey picked up the other kid and body slammed  him to the concrete floor. It was hard for me to see more than once, the kid who was body-slammed couldn't really stand up after being knocked down. It's been said that Casey could have paralyzed the other boy. I beleive that bullying needs to stop, and I understand Casey has been bullyed, I hate it and I really feel for him but body-slamming a kid was not the correct response.

Attack on Libya

"Obama Taking Heat from all Sides for Libya Action" By Jim O' Sullivan
22 March 2011
http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_exclusive/obama-taking-heat-from-all-sides-for-libya-action

Obama is recieving alot of criticism for the attack on Libya. And he seems to be facing it alone, this is the first war he has started and he's only three days into it. People were surpirsed because he seemed to be a "plausible anti-war candidate". I don't really agree with the attack on Libya but instead of complaining we can try to figure out a solution.

Japan is taking so many hits and I just can't wait till everything gets better for them.

Radiation Hits California

Radiation hit the U.S today around 5 a.m. but we are being told that it's not harmful. They beleive that we are not going to be facing any radiation in high levels because the wind, rain and salt spray will help clean the air over the ocean between Japan and the United States.I'm just glad to hear that we're not in danger because I don't beleive we would be ready.

50 Faceless Hereos [WHIP]

50 Faceless Hereos

Paul Harper.Hereos of Fukushima.16 March 2011.
  world.nzherald.co.nz.16 March 2011

Due to the explosion at Fukushima Daiichi's, a manager ordered an evacuation. But 50 brave men stayed behind to try to fix the power plant. They stayed behind knowing it was dangerous, knowing they would be exposed to the radiation and even then they are still working hard to try and fix it. They are said to be exposed to high doses of radiation, and even though they are wearing protective clothing they will still face some negative effects. I heard in the news that the men that stayed behind were not young men, but old men. They said these men were volunteered for their age becuase they believed they wouldn't die becuase of the harmful effects. Because it takes 10 to 20 years for the effects to kick in they believe they would die before they began to suffer.

Class Discussion -Education

I didn't think that we would have alot to say for this class discussion because I thought we all agreed on the same things. But I was so wrong because people still had alot to say, and it was really interesting to see the different ideas that my classmates had. I wasn't so surprised when people disagreed with my idea of wanting to expand school hours. I expected them to disagree, but some people didn't really seem to mind, which did surprised me. I know I didn't really explain myself and get my point across, but I really do think longer school days would benifit us. We could take our time to learn our lessons instead of just memorizing things. We would be so much more prepared for when we graduate. People think that longer school hours will be a drag and we would get tired of being in school. But along with having a longer school day, we'd find new ways to learn and take the classes we actaully want to take, teachers would have time to help us,even longer lunches, I really believe we would benifit from this. I also believe we need to get rid of Tenure, because the bad teachers are keeping the kids behind. And we are also wasting money with having teachers who don't make a difference. I also believe the "Rubber Room" needs to be gone because the money being used to pay those bad teachers is wasted, and should be used for our edducation[technology, teachers, etc].

50 Hereos

"Japanese Nuclear Plant Workers Emerging as Herioc Figures in Tragedy"  By Brett Micheals Dykes

http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_thelookout/20110315/ts_yblog_thelookout/japanese-nuclear-plant-workers-emerging-as-heroic-figures-in-tragedy

We all heard about the tragedy that struck Japan. I knew things were bad, but up untill I read this article did I realize that things were extremely horrible. It almost seems like some movie, but this is real. There are 50 unknown workers who stayed behind to try to fix one of the nuclear plants. They are being so selfless that I admire them and really hope they make it back out so that they can be thanked, because they are risking so much for everyone else. I really hope things get better soon.

Celebrity Apprentice

"TV's Hatch Turns Himself in to Start Nine Month Term"
14 March 2011
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110314/ap_on_en_tv/us_people_richard_hatch

One of the best shows in my opionion has got to be The Apprentice; and Celebrity Apprentice is even better. The Cast and Donald Trump never dissapoints. Well one of the new cast members this season is a man named Richard Hatch [who from the beginning I felt I didn't like],who is going to begin his nine month prison sentence. He didn't pay his taxes when he got his award from the show survivor. Should have just paid the taxes from the beginning.......

Obama wants to have longer school days, which could mean a shorter summer vacation. Longer days in school isnt going to be cheap though. Many other nations have their kids in school longer, and for them it seems to work.

Too young for marriage?

"Teen Marriage" By Sherri and Bob Stritof
09 March 2011

http://marriage.about.com/cs/teenmarriage/a/teenmarriage.htm

Why are so many teens ready to marry right after graduating? Are they doomed for divorce? Or guranteed a happy ending? It all depends on the person in the end, because there are some cases were things work out fine, but in other cases we hear of people being abused. But isn't it better to wait untill you for sure know you will be with that person forever?

They have new footage of 9/11, from the view of the helicopter. I have seen many documentrys and footages on 9/11 and for me they are painful to watch. But I believe people need to see this so  that they have a sense of pride for those that are fighting for us.

"Blieber" punches Selena?

"Selena Gomez didn't get punched by a Justing Beiber Fan "by Dahvi Shira
04 March 2011
http://www.people.com/people/article/0,,20470460,00.html

Supposbly Selena Gomez got punched by a Justin Beiber fan, on the night that she and Justin celebrated his 17th birthday. But no one really knows the truth about why her lip looked swollen, some say a fan got crazy others say she just didn't get punched. What is true though is that fans are threatening Selena, and all because she's going out with Justin Bieber. Now seriously I think these people are crazy, and to the point of threatening someone else is pyschotic and they really need to realize that they will never have Justin, so they really need to get over their jealousy. The sooner they realize that the better.

Street Racing: Fun or Dangerous?

"Street Racing" By Joseph Petrocelli
2 March 2011

http://www.policemag.com/Channel/Patrol/Articles/2007/04/Patrol-Response-to.aspx

Many people, enjoy street racing without really thinking about how dangerous it can be. They are only in it for the rush, the competition and so called "fun". They don't even think of the possibility of hurting themselves or others. It's said that 50 times each year people die due to the result of an accident, that's something that can be avoided and so I believe people need to stop.
